Use Forest Pack on deforming surface?
« on: October 24, 2016, 01:20:38 PM »
Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to use Forest Pack on a surface that has it's verts animated either via a deformer or on an animated imported geo cache, ie a ground surface animated by a wave-deformer to simulate a stylized earthquake shockwave.

I tried briefly but didnt get very far, since the scattered instances did not stick to the surface when it deformed during the animation.

Cheers!

Hi,

That's possible and it'll depend a lot on how the deformation will look like. For some scenarios (where the UV space is significantly deformed in time) would be recommendable to use a workaround is to use "help" surfaces" as explained in following "Scattering on animated surface" thread. Hope you'll find it useful.

Best regards,
