I wonder how to make parking tiles with ForestPack and or RailClone.
On even surface, not a problem, FP woks fine:

But once terrain got some noise in Z,- I can`t mange to find good settings.

There is VrayPattern plugin, which is perfect for this kind of situation, but FP is way more powerful, thus I wonder if it could achieve similar results like VP:

hmmm...i cant think of anything but maybe smaller tiles? it would reduce the problem...but not solve it.

Yes, it would be done using smaller tiles. In the attached scene i used a couple of Forest objects, modifying Distribution->Offset in the second one, to create the pattern.
The result is not perfect because each tile is aligned with the surface at an unique point, but i hope that helps.
Regarding RailClone, the current version doesn't support surfaces, although we are working on that.

smaller tiles will do, thanx.
and especially thank you for news regarding RailClone ;)

well I analyzed scene more closely and have some questions.
First why didn`t You use distribution grid 2, but used 2 forestpack objects?
and Second, more important- how to fill holes with grass?

Ops ! You are right... distribution grid 2 is much better solution. I didn't try that. :)
To fill holes with grass, change in the Forest area the "Shape" mode to "Mesh". In this way, the full geometry of each item is used as excluding region, instead a bounding sphere which is the default mode (faster but less precise).
I suggest also to use low values for Random->Translation, or turn off completely. Random translation is applied after computing the item position, so it may change the result significatively.

thank You all.
This will do.

I just wanted to comment on how nicely illustrated this thread is! :)
Cheers,

With the advent of new RailClone, I had to update this thread.
Thank You iToo, for making this final style possible. That`s what I wanted in the first place.

Now that is a great railclone use! I'd like that in my library! :)

Yes, seriously, that's very nice! Also would love to get that style, too!
