Small bug or something that can be improved:

If I have a FP with some objects loaded in via the Library, and I have those objects come in to the scene as xrefs rather than embedding into the scene, and those objects are not in the same units as the scene, every time I open the max file there is a scene unit scale mismatch and I have to hit "ok" for every object, which can take a long time to do if there are lots of them. It looks like the FP/max scene isn't "remembering" that you are wanting to rescale/adapt them all to the scene units.

Thanks,
Alex York

Hi,

The annoying XRef Object Merge: Units Mismatch warning window issue in 3ds Max 2016 was reported to Autodesk and as mentioned in this related post: "Unfortunately, as this issue isn't related to our plug-in at all (it'll happen in any scene using several XRefs that doesn't match the scene unit set-up), we can't do much more in this case. Thanks for your comprehension."

As far as I know, there's no similar "problem" in the 3ds Max 2017 / 3ds Max 2018.

Best regadrs,

Best regadrs,

Ah! That's great to hear, if it's been fixed by AD already... thanks very much.

Hi, I was wondering if there has been any update on this? I found an old post on Autodesk pointing to a script called 'Silentium' - however it doesn't work for max 2021.

There is no other alternative that I know.
FP7 library browser will skip those pop ups.

Hi,

It's strange, I loaded an object with the forest and checking "Xref to library" to save memory. But the unit system of this object is the same as the scene.

Why this problem if the files are the same?

Hi,

sorry for my request, I saw that I had unchecked "respect unit file" in the unit configuration while I was opening the source file ...

Is there any plug-in or script to convert multiple file units directly without opening one by one and saving one by one?

it is really boring, i have a big librairie and the last files have not the good unit setup. It will be too long to make one by one...

Thx
