Title: Placing staffage, outdoor furniture on balconys
Post by: Klonsemann on February 11, 2022, 01:07:54 PM
We try to automate and randomize our balcony/terrace staffage.
To mass populate even big buildings.
The staffage should include tables, seats (sometimes with people), plants/flowers and parasols.
All these meshes are available in different types and should be random.
The groundarea to cover will differ even within one building. It would be nice to cover it as most as possible.

Maybe anyone had the same task, with what solution did you came up?

Hi,

Could you let me know a little more about a typical project? How are your buildings normally setup? Do you have a surface for each balcony that's either combined or separated or any splines in place that could be used?

Cheers,
Paul

We have one spline that contains all balconys with seperate MatIDs for railing.

Thanks - that's helpful. If you already have a spline with IDs set along the front, do you think it would work to use RailClone to distribute objects (with a Y offset) along the same spline? The ability to grab the materials directly from the source geometry might have made RailClone much more viable for this sort of thing.

Cheers,
Paul
