Custom saved PRESETS don't work
« on: December 24, 2016, 06:52:18 AM »
Hello,

I want to understand why it doesn't work, or what I'm missing here.

When I set up a forest pack template and I save it (general tab) to reuse it later, or even in the same scene on another object, it simply doesn't work at all, and nothing happens when I try to load it on another object.

Most of the time, I see in the log that the amount of objects are exceeding the limit, but other times, it is not the cause.

How to make custom presets work please?

Thank you.

Hi, we suggest to not use this Preset feature, since it's very limited and some parameters (as maps, splines and other external references) are not saved.
We keep it just for compatibility for customers that use it yet.

Instead, i suggest you save your presets using the Library. You can find a detailed tutorial here, besides the documentation.

In case of any doubt, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your help.
I already followed these tutorials, and made up some libraries of my own, which is really useful, but that's not the function I'm looking for. I wanted that save/load preset one, which could allow for a complete FP template to be applied on another object, including all the parameters of the modifier, as well as the list of the objects, etc.
It is cumbersome to have to re-tweak all the setup on every object, and sometimes there is a lot to tweak.

I'm afraid currently there is not such feature.
You can use General->Presets to store numeric and basic parameters, but because the way it was designed, it's not possible to store references to other objects.
