Limit visibility - how to fool reflections?
« on: March 04, 2012, 03:33:46 PM »
Hi guys,
when one uses limit visibility option its impossible to see scattered objects in the reflection because...obviously...behind the cam, there is nothing scattering.
Is there a way how to fool this while having limit visibility on???
Hope the question is clear enough :))))
Thanks for reply
Best

No, unfortunately it's not possible. If that helps, you would increase the "Back offset" parameter, to get more items behind the camera.

What about making another forest Limited to a second camera that is facing backwards.

If its an animated camera then you have a more challenging time of reflecting the Main cameras motion
off the top of my head you could duplicate your original camera and link it to a dummy that is at the centre of your reflecting object (and rotated to match).. link a new camera (the one that is limiting you reflection forest) the the duplicated main camera, then scale the controlling dummy in a way that mirrors you MAIN camera.

Its a bit convoluted though, so personally, i would use a reflection card that has a texture on it.. maybe put a few hero objest in front of it, if you really need some parallax shift.

If it works, the easiest way is definitely adjust the back offset, like mentioned above.

happy hunting!

We have some ideas to improve the camera clipping, working well with back reflections. Probably we will work on this for next Forest versions.

Sorry, no changes in the software regarding this issue. Some of the the ideas i had were not possible, because technical limitations.

You may increase Camera->Expand and  Back Offset to open the camera's frustrum. If that doesn't work, you should disable completely camera clipping.
