Hi
Is there any way to populate forest over specific material id (lets say matID=4)?
I have lots of geometry and unfortunately its not instances... so I need to detach every single polygon, then join, then use as surface to scatter forest (stones in this case)
hope there is a solution
-
No, sorry. There is not an option to scatter by material ID. You must prepare the surfaces manually.
-
thx for reply
any chance to have this option in the future?
-
If i remember well, we tried it some time ago but there was some technical limitation. I'll take a look to it again.

would be nice
thank you

hi
I have some other issue, could you please help me to isolate the problem
I joined all geometry manually into one polygon (stone_surf)
but stones never grow on it
I made new plane and it works fine over plane. Tried to attach stone_surf to plane - still no luck. Stones don't want to scatter over small polygons (((
pls guide me how to fix it
Thanks

Please, check the normals of those polygons. They must be facing up.
-
yes, that was the first think I checked
extrude polygon goes up
still no luck
-
Please, post a test scene. I will check it.
-
here it is
my walkoround for now - big plane and spline area instead
-
It was a normals issue after all. Applying a Normal modifier solves the problem.
-
hm...
I tried 'normal' modifier before and it didnt work
will try again
thank you
PS. any chance to force forest to grow up ignoring normals?

PS. any chance to force forest to grow up ignoring normals?
It would generate strange results with the "Direction" parameter, besides other features that use the surface normal.
