rotation input values <1
« on: May 23, 2014, 12:08:59 AM »
hi. i need random rotation values like 0.2 degrees to achieve for example a concrete floor (big slabs) with some un-precision. unfortunately the lowest value i can input is 1.
see attachment.
any workaround for this?
or is it some settings in 3ds max?

I'm afraid these parameters are of type integer (for historical reasons ). It's not possible to set values less than 1%.

If that helps, you would create this distribution easily using RailClone Lite. It has not that limitation.

thanks for the quick answer. i have a railclone pro license.
in this case the forest would have been easier i guess since i can use a surface as ground object (the surface is a patch grid which deforms slightly in z direction...)
and i like the native octane render support in forest without converting to instances..
BTW do you have plans to fully support octane render in railclone?
might be a bit more complicated i guess since sliced objects have to be movable proxies at their own etc.
have a good day.

edit: probably i will do the rotation on object level (with a couple of objects). I need some mat ids anyway for material variation.

Unfortunately there are not plans to support Octane natively in RailClone. We need the collaboration of Otoy, but until now they don't seem interested.

Anyway, you can use RailClone Tools for that. It sets the 'Movable Proxy' property automatically, so RC objects can be instantiated for Octane with a single click.
