Problem with Forest LOD and xref objects
« on: November 08, 2017, 06:25:00 PM »
Hello,
I'm trying to use ForestLOD with some xref objects that I have imported from another scene. Everything seems to work fine until I save and try to re-open the scene. This is when I get a crush with an "Application Error" dialogue box and 3dsmax shuts down. I can merge the objects back into a new scene but if I save and re-open the new file, same crush happens.
Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?
I'm using 3dsmax2017 and FP 5.1.0
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're facing these troubles. I would suggest you to upgrade to the latest release, because of many new features, improvements and fixed bugs since the 5.1.0. We've been doing some additional tests on 3ds max 2017 & Forest Pack Pro 5.4.1, but we can't reproduce any similar troubles. If you'll be able to reproduce it on a minimal scene, which you can send us, it would be great.

Thanks in advance for any further comments on this issue you can share about it with us / our user community.

Best regards,

Thank you for replying!
I sent an email in the helpdesk mail with some brief notes.
In the meantime I found a work-around to the problem by importing (not xref) the LOD models in a new scene, creating the forest objects there and then xref-ing the whole file into the master scene. So the master file is not too heavy and manageable in a better way.
I'm planning on upgrading to the latest FP version the sooner.
Thanks in advance!
