Control forest visibility in xref structure
« on: December 09, 2016, 03:30:02 PM »
Hello,

my current setup is Master scene (empty) with loaded Xref scenes: Lights&Cameras, Terrain with vegetation made by ForestPro, Buildings....
I wanted to be able to control the visibility of different forests in the scene, by placing them in different layers. This does not work in Vray distributed render. Render nodes do not read layer states correctly.
In this setup, camera distance falloff does not work either. I use it for clipping the objects in front of the camera, but to keep them in the background. In the attachment is my way to clip the foreground.

Is my workflow wrong and maybe this is the limitation of the max or vray? Do you have a suggestion for a different workaround?

Thanks!
Boris

Hi,

Upon my quick test, such way of setting the Camera - Distance Falloff - Density curve seems to work correctly in both scenes. Attaching a sample file.

Would you mind to specify more in detail your troubles with State Sets? Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
