Area with (Forest exclude) changes distribution randomly!
« on: July 29, 2020, 07:36:57 PM »
Hi there
i have been dealing with a problem here for the whole day trying to understand the cause of it.
attached a very simple scene file to test with me.

Situation:
we have 2 forest pack objects on the same surface... Forest01 and Forest02
Forest01 (in grey) is the base (rendering normaly)
Forest02 (in pink) Area is using Forest01 as Exclude

The problem is:
Every time we click render the distribution of forest02 changes ALSO when distribute rendering Every node render with a different distribution.. i guess in animation also every frame might render different as this topic https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-(*)/forest-distribution-changes-on-animation/ says if he used area with forest exclusion as well

These 2 images rendered without editing any thing
you can see pink plant change the distribution by itself

Note:
when i test the same every thing but removes forest01 exclusion from forest02, Every thing renders as expected.

Using:
3ds max 2019.3
Vray Next update 2(4.20)
Forest Pack 6.3.0

Hope we can find a solution to this
Thanks in advance

Thank You for reporting and an attached max file.
We can reproduce it and will check what can be done to solve it.

Hi again.
We are still investigating the issue and thinking how to solve it.
For now there are two workarounds to fix an issue.

Set Forest001 object CPU Threads to 0,

or switch Forest002 object to "Custom Edit", aka "Items" mode:

Hi Rokas,
Actually Both of them worked for me, Thanks a lot.

Since i am a new user to Forest pack, i didn't deal with Item Editor yet.
so i will choose the first option for now, but can this affect render time or any thing like this? what it means to keep CPU Threads to 0?

This is the Second time for me to post in forums and you guys in both times get the issue fixed in no time, I really appreciate that,
Thanks a gain

That wont affect rendering times. Just distributing scattering.
You can test the speed changes by modifying the "CPU Threads" parameter in the General rollout, from "Auto" to 0 and use the "Forest Stats" window to compare the processing times.
