Reference settings
« on: April 20, 2013, 10:53:11 AM »
Hi
Is there any way to make reference settings for the forest objects?
Let's say I would need to make changes to one forest and see the same changes in the other one (geometry objects, density, scale, etc.)
But this shouldn't affect areas and surfaces.

Hope you can include this feature in the new version.

Thanks.

Max already includes this feature as "Parameter Wiring". Please, check the Max help reference for details.

Anyway, it is limited to simple parameters. As far as i know, it is not implemented for values that are stored as a list (as the Geometry objects).

Hi,
Yes I know that. But "Parameter wiring" is not easy for use when you have many objects with many parameters.
Is it possible to implement this feature in the next forest release - kind of reference forest object. Would be great to have that.
Or parent settings forest object or something like this.
Or maybe special list that links settings for all forest included in it.

Please let me know if you plan to implement it.

Thanks.

P.S. or maybe some external script could do this when running - pick parent, pick children objects...

I'm sorry, but this kind of behaviour would be really complex to implement it. Futhermore if Max does not support natively wiring of array parameters.
