Title: Proxies animation into FPP
Post by: zules on May 20, 2017, 06:42:11 PM
Hi,
i'm trying to animate object through FPP but can't achieve it...
I folowed the tutorials with documentation, I understand the key aspects but cannot reproduce it...

I want to animate Corona Proxies charged into a FPP object. I'm a newbie in animation...
I autokeyed all the proxies to move (key 0 > move > key 60).
I charged them into FPP Geometry panel.
I enabled the follow geometry options.
When I render at any frame using interactive render to get the motion blur from the proxies, they dont even move themselves.

Any idea how I can achieve it ? It's pretty urgent...  ::)

Thanks !

JG

Hi, please note that in Corona Renderer the animation modes have no effect. It works always as using the "Following" mode, because the items are instances of the scene object, and follow its animation.
You can see the compatibility list here (http://docs.itoosoft.com/forestpack/requirements).

Said that, in this case it should work because you are using exactly that mode.
The problem is that movement, rotation and scale keys are not recorded by Forest because are not part of the object, but of its transformation. You must use the following workaround:

1) Take the original mesh object used for the proxy.
2) Create a Helper->Dummy object and animate it (adding the movement keys).
3) Add a "Linked XForm" modified to the geometry, and pick the Dummy as Control Object.
4) Assign the geometry to Forest as usual.

That's all. I suggest to use standard meshes with Forest, because usually proxies don't add any benefit. But if you want to use a proxy, these steps are optional:

4) Convert the geomety to a proxy. The movement produced by the Linked XForm will be embedded within the proxy's file.
5) Use the proxy with Forest.

I hope that helps.

Yes I saw about the limitation ;)

Thank you for this explanation, I will try it right now.

Have a good weekend ! (freelance don't have !)

EDIT :
It works well, thank you !
Only one problem, scaterred object follow their path without trouble, but aren't constrain by the surface size.
I add a spline area including the Forest object, but it doesn't affect the "escaping" of the proxies from the surfaces...
Any idea to constrain animated object to an Area or Surface ?

Thank you !

Hi,

One option here might be to change the Boundary Checking mode. By default this is set to Point, which only takes into consideration the position of the items pivot. The evaluate it based on the size of the object it can be changed to Size mode.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many Thanks,

Hard to see if it works, but I believe you !

Thank you again !

Sorry, inadvertently i've deleted the post for this question. Text is in the quote anyway:

Quote
Are there plans to add support for animated proxies in corona?, We have been doing this for stadium crowds with vray and just found that it does not work with corona. It would be very useful to have that functionality in corona as well.

Yes, this option is in our plans but it will require some time yet.

To difference of V-Ray, integration with Corona Renderer was done by the Corona team using our Forest SDK. Actually the SDK doesn't include support for animation samples, it just retrieve a list of instances and their position.
So first we must improve the SDK adding animation functions, and next they must implement this feature from their side.

I hope we can start with that in Forest 6, which is actually under development.

Hi Carlos, I am having trouble rendering animated proxies using Forestpack pro, is this still an issue that hasn't been sorted between you and the corona devs? Is your SDK already supporting animation?
It's been one year since these posts, so hopefully we can now use it right?
Let me know please, it would come in super handy :)

Hi DRuivo,

Unfortunately situation regarding this issue has not changed.
