Title: radial distribution
Post by: Pierre on November 26, 2025, 11:33:26 am
Hi everyone,

I am trying to recreate a specific distribution using Forest Pack to gain more control over the parameters, but I'm struggling to get the look right.
Currently, I have achieved this using standard Max modifiers (as seen in the attached screenshot). It is essentially a radial distribution where the scale and rotation are dependent on the distance from the center.
How can I replicate this behavior in Forest Pack? Specifically, I need to control the progressive scaling and rotation as the objects move outward.

Thanks in advance for your help!
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

In my opinion, it would be handy to use/involve the RailClone plugin for this task, as the X Evenly Count Mode makes it easy to define - either to create placeholders for ForestPack in a radial pattern or to handle the final geometry distribution directly. Please find attached a sample scene demonstrating a possible approach using the RailClone plug-in (251126_RadialArraySampleScene_ITOOSOFT). I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hi Michal,

Thank you very much for sending over the solution.
In the meantime, I had found an intermediate solution using an array for radial layout coupled with a forest in distribution-by-reference mode. However, your all-in-one solution is likely more practical.
I appreciate your invaluable help !

Best regards,
Pierre
