Multiple FP - parameter change
« on: February 21, 2019, 06:42:14 AM »
Hi,
Is there a way to change/set parameters on Multiple FP.
I have 50+ FPs in the scene and need to set the same parameters for all, eg.:
Distribution: X-units, Cluster on (Cluster settings)
Camera: AutoCamera assign to on
Transform: Translation, Rotation...
etc.
Some sort of script, xml, text file?

tnx
Dragan

hm, I try to export Preset and simply edit in Notepad.
As I can see, If I delete unwanted parameters/change some/resave and load this file into another FP it works! Only those parameters are changed.
So I guess it could be done with some kind of script to display GUI to set/change parameters with a checkbox for `export selection` and then Import to multiple FPs.

Hi Dragan,

Well, though it’s possible to store just some parameters (by editing the .fpe file) in a preset, importing these to a multiple FP objects would be better to perform by a script as the most of Forest’s properties are accessible by maxscript (you can get the list by showProperties($)).

Any of "mass editing tools" should help with this task and upon my quick test, for example, the Modifier Modifier Zorb script seems to do the job too.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Thank you Michal,
I try Zorb Script but it freezes Max when FP is selected. I change a few parameters and then suddenly Max freeze (in fact whole Computer freezes).
3ds Max 2015.
Unfortunately, I`m not familiar with Scripting in Max so I guess I`ll have to start learning or find an alternative to Zorb Script.

Best Regards
