Render each Tree individually?
« on: May 01, 2020, 11:30:36 AM »
Hi everyone,

So I run into an issue a lot when working with Landscape Architects. We usually have trees in very particular spots and with a particular height. Of course when the client see's this or the architect, they might like everything except maybe two trees. They either want to move them slightly to the left or maybe make them slightly larger.

My question is either:

How can I render every tree as an individual layer so I can therefore move these trees in Photoshop with ease without having to render all the trees again? An Id Mask won't work because some trees will be behind others.

or

Whats the best approach for working this way? Where maybe just a few trees might need to move, some could be behind another or just in front.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Oh and I'm using V-Ray and 3ds max to render these.

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith,

I'm not sure how you might efficiently render all the individual trees, I would think the added render times would outweigh the advantages. Instead, I would suggest that you use Item editor mode in Forest Pack. This mode allows you to bake down a scatter and then move, rotate and scale individual items so you can really fine tune them to meet your clients wishes. Here's the documentation: https://docs.itoosoft.com/forestpack/forest-plugin/item-editor

Hope that helps,

Paul
