Title: Render scene in chunks?
Post by: MN4869 on October 02, 2013, 11:21:02 AM
Can anyone think of a clever means of easily rendering out individual chunks of several FPP objects with the intention of projecting each one of these chunks onto image planes in a composting app?

I'm thinking I could create small FPP objects and render one at a time Or if using larger ones and trying to use a boundary and painstakingly render a chunk and then move it until the whole scene is done. Would have to do for each forest object so not ideal. Ideally I want to be able to set it up and then batch render the lot.

The benefit would be that if camera moves are small, you could render mid and background objects ones and get the correct parallax in compositing app.

Interesting problem. How about animating the camera/distance falloff graph with a stepped curve pattern. Animated over several frames it should be able to render out a series of parallel plates. I've attached a couple of files to try and explain what I mean.

Hi

I can't DL at the moment (not for another week) but I think I understand.

Did you use a n shape cure (square though).

Its a pretty neat solution cause you can link a bunch of FPP objects to the vray camera environment range.

I just need a way to clip sideways...

Thanks for the reply. :)

Hi,

Could you use animated spline areas to include or exclude geometry in a similar way? It should only be a case of applying the same spline to any Forest objects. That way you can determine the exact shape and orientation and still automatically render a sequence of frames.

Thanks,

Paul.

Another good idea. Thanks for that. Ill give it a whirl.

It's a bit messy, but i'd use a spline to separate the chunks as suggested, then duplicate all your FPP objects, invert the effect of the spline (from include to exclude), and make those FPP objects invisible to camera. That way your chunks are still lit by the surrounding vegetation.

That's a good point George. I'll be trying this soon. Thanks.
