I have a garden bed made up of many plants (1 FP object), and rocks (another FP object). Because they have very different distribution patterns, I can't make them a single FP object, but I dont want my plants inside my rocks. If collision worked between FP objects, this would solve the problem.

In the next beta you will find a nice help for this: multiple areas, each one with its own density, distribution map and selectable list of plants.
We also have planned to include global collisions, but probably it will not be ready until the second beta (too much work for an unique release).

do you have a rough estimate on when that will be available carlos?

That feature sounds great! It will solve this particular case where I need different distribution per object (or group of objects).
-
In that case I end up using multiple forest objects and splines to detail areas around other forest objects. Multiple areas and distribution per object would be great.

I think it should be ready within three or four weeks.

It would be nice if Forest had a button that you could click which would re-arrange a forest object based on collisions with any unhidden object in the scene with its own settings for pivot/size and falloff.

... or much better: multiple object exclusion areas, working with any mesh or group from the scene, and of course running in real-time ! ;D
At this rate, you're going to reveal all the new features of the upcoming beta. :D
