Title: Scatter a Forest on another Forest
Post by: iainbanks on November 15, 2017, 12:10:27 PM
Forgive me if this has already been asked, but is it possible to scatter a Forest onto another forest?  I have a plane with some cubes scattered on it as the first forest.  A second forest is then scattering teapots onto the plane aswell as the first forest cubes. It seems to be working fine in the viewport with a very basic scene (planes, boxes, teapots) as a test but when rendering i am getting errors that the max density limit has been reached and then the 2nd forest wont render on the surface of the first.

When i try to use the tree editor mode to limit the density of objects i don;t receive that error anymore but the objects still do not render on the surface of the first forest.

Any ideas?

Edit: I'm using Forest Pro 5.4.1 with corona 1.6 (hotfix 3) on max 2018

Cheers, Iain

Hi Iain,

I'm afraid, such kind of set-up isn't supported by the Forest Pack plug-in. The "first" Forest object should be converted into Editable Mesh / Poly to get the "second" one rendered.

Best regards,

Thanks Michal, Thats a shame that it doesnt.  Hopefully in the future that might be implemented?  It's just odd as it seems to work fine in the viewport but not whilst rendering.

For now i've been converting the first Forest to a mesh as you say.

Would also be useful for forest pack instancing leaves on trees and then instancing those trees into a forest for billions of instances.
