Garbage/Animation layers in base files
« on: November 27, 2025, 07:42:21 pm »
A lot of your base files (Forest Presets, 3D Garden Library, ForestIvy) contain animation layers, which to my knowledge are completely unneccessary. This really slows down my file loading and rendering. Normally when I see it is one of these meshes, I just load, clean and save them back and the problem is solved.
However, with ForestIvy the base files are *.pl format. I tried to rename it to *.max so I could load them and do the same resaving, but the *.pl file is something proprietary.

Could you please clean these files and resave them, or get rid of the animation layers inside them?

Thanks

Th eproblem was not in a ForestIvy object, but in a corrupt object which was used as a surface for Ivy and had animation layers that somehow could not be cleared. After remodelling everything works OK now. Sorry for the misconception

I'm glad the problem is solved.

Regarding the .fp files of ForestIvy, as you pointed out, is a propietary format which let us to distribute the libraries without depending of the 3DS Max version.
These files can be loaded in 3DS Max using File->Import. Same for RailClone with the .rail format.
