Post by: Nildo Essa on November 05, 2007, 04:39:00 PM
Hey..long time no posting:)

I'm Having a really tough time correcting the problem seen on the images...when i choose a vray sun (or any GI light) i deactivate the Hide Planes as instructed..but the i get this strong self shadow on one part of the tree...its really annoying...an way to fix this without turnin the vertical plane off?

Hi Nildo,

Unfortunately, there is not possible to disable shadow casting on individual planes, to avoid this self shadow issue.

I suggest you use the self-illumination value in the material, to minimize the effect between the dark and light areas.

Hi

:(:(:(

Well the selfilumination value (planes material) is another thing that confuses me...i would like to understand better what exactly this value does..as i've tried to change it but it doesnt seem to change much...UNLESS i change the selfilumination WITHIN the standard material part.

Only way i found is to uncheck receive shadows on the object properties and put 0 to self ilumination value on standard material...

well hope u find a fix for it on a later release:)

Hi,

Self illumination of Planes Materials was designed to illuminate the material, without affecting the shadow received by the object. However, we must review it, because it's not working as intended.
