Title: splineoffset plugin
Post by: roysgi10 on August 20, 2019, 11:27:20 AM
Hello.

Thanks for the great plugin.

Is it possible in 3D mode to close the open line at its edges (see attached image)

Thanks

It can't be done in this modifier.

And how would it behave in the event of an odd number? For this purpose it is better to use Shell or Sweep.

That is the reason why it can't be done for this modifier.
There are two different modes already 2d and 3d.
Both algorithms has their pros and cons. We hope You find uses for this modifier in Your workflows.

We are eager to see what You come up with.  Feel free to share Your results.
Title: Re: splineoffset plugin X-Form modifier problem

I am using Max 2014 and when I add the x-form modifier, enter the gizmo sub object and move it, the spline moves as well, so doesn't work as per the video, when you want to move the splines pivot point ???????

So, at least for me and in Max 2014, I cannot adjust the pivot point of the spline, using the XForm modifier

Any ideas why this is not working?

EDIT

Sorted.. I missed the fact that you rotated the offset splines by 30 degrees, in the Z axis.

HOWEVER, you incorrectly stated that the XForm modifier is moving the pivot point, it is actually moving the original spline BUT the pivot point remains in it's original place. So you are offsetting the spline from it's pivot point.

Suggestion, perhaps you could add a pivot point translation section, so negating the need to use xform altogether

Yes, You need to use Z rotation. Attached scene for reference.
Thanks for Your info FC1888.

Pivot point translation is next improvement. It is not the main development task at the moment.
I don't know when we will resume on this plugin.

Yes, I totally understand that your priorities, lie in other areas, freebies are nice, but hardly a great way to earn a living. Anyway, I will have to play around with this plugin more and look forward to the future tutorials... For now though, it's back to the real work.
