Forest Color - Feature Request
« on: October 24, 2012, 08:10:58 AM »
Hi there.

I love the Forest Color map but wish it could allow more options in terms of distribution, rather than just probability randomisation.

It would be great if there could be a CLUSTERING option, the same as with the forest object distribution. This would allow you, for example, to have more specific (or general) areas of tree foliage that are a different colour, without having to split up the elements of the source object into separate material IDs.

If there is already another way of doing this, I would be interested to hear about it.

Regards,

Justin

I was thinking on a similar feature recently. I don't know if it is possible or not, but we would take a look to it.

Alternatively, you would apply a second texture map scaled to the full size of the tree, and blend it with the leaves map. If i remember well, we use this technique in one of the trees of the Urban Park tutorial.

Of course, all trees will look identical for this texture, but it should work reasonably well once applied random rotation.
