Converting Forest Pack to mesh
« on: November 28, 2016, 04:34:18 PM »
Hi guys,

I actually have Forest Pack Pro but not sure how I can get access to that forum, anyways I'm wondering can I convert some of the things I create into meshes/editable poly?

I want to 3d print them thats why.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

That's possible by using 3ds max's quad menu (right click having the FP object selected) - transform - Convert To: Convert to Editable Mesh. This way you'll get one mesh object.

Let me add, that there is a very powerful tool which is part of Forest Pack Pro, called "Forest Tools". This allows you export your scattered geometry as instances. It can be found it under Utilities panel - More ... - Forest Tools. Please feel free to see comparison between Lite / Pro versions in this Feature list.

Best regards,

By the way, you can get access to the Pro forums using the account included with your license. It's valid both for the User Panel and Forum.

Awesome thanks a lot will give it a try.

@IToo: I can successfully log into my account page and download my licenses etc... but the same login doesnt work on the forums so I created this new one.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks a lot, just tried it, when I convert it to an editable mesh, it just gives me a blank plane, maybe because I was working off a point cloud? Anyways it doesnt work when I turn the display to mesh as well.

Thanks.

I just reset the password, it should work now. Anyway, i also granted Pro permissions to your new account, so you can use either.

Probably number of faces exceeded the Display limit. Please, try setting in the Display rollout 'Max faces' and 'Max items' to 0, and Viewport mode to 'Mesh'.
And yes, convert to mesh works only with the geometry visible in the viewport.
