Suggestion - furniture layouts

(1/1)

Richard Birket:
We've been working on a few large residential schemes lately. One time consuming thing is putting in some residential 'clutter' to make exterior shots look more convincing - i.e. suggestions of sofas, cupboards, lamps, houseplants etc. It is all very tedious.

I have wondered how I could get ForestPro to do this for me, but I haven't found a solution yet.

What about a possible extension of FP where you can draw outlines of rooms in the top viewport, assign a room type (kitchen, living room, dining room etc), and have FP populate the area with furniture from a central (low-poly) library? This would be a great feature. I don't intend these models to be high detailed, highly textured objects, but more 'block' based to give a distant impression of furniture.

Thanks for yor suggestion. But i think that this feature would very difficult to do. Creating a coherent and realistic decoration automatically is a different type of problem from random distributions for nature enviroments. I'm not sure there exists algorithms for this, but it certainly would be a subject for a entirely different plugin.

The most similar function with Forest is use the reference objects in the tree editor http://www.itoosoft.com/forestpack/reference/refedition.php to place elements over markers imported from Autocad or others programs.

Richard Birket:
Reference placement looks interesting. I've not thought to use that. Thanks for the tip. Could be very handy.
