Surface problem with attached polygons

(1/1)

halil:
Hello,

I had a reference file, an fbx file attached from Revit. I've exploded the reference file and converted it to an editable poly. We made some changes in the scene so I had to expand the area. So I created another polygon surface and attached it to the first surface. However when I apply forestpack it only appears in the first polygonal surface not the second, and if I apply normal modifier and flip and unify normal than this time only the second attached surface becomes active. I've attached the file. I try to apply one forestpack to this surface but it fails. Any suggestions?

Best

Each one of the original surfaces had normals pointing to different directions (up and down respectively). So, a simple Normal modifier doesn't work here. Try this:

1) Change to "Element" mode in the editable poly.
2) Select the right side of the surface.
3) Apply a Normal->Flip Normals modifer (applying it only to the selection).
4) Reload the Surface in forest (Refresh button in the Surface rollout).

As far as i know, there is no way to see the normals vectors in an Editable Poly. But it can be done converting to editable mesh: Face mode->Show Normals.

Thank you,

I have detached the object and flipped normals and re attached but that did not work for me but when I converted to mesh and flipped the normals as you suggested that solved my problem.

Thank you again.
