Hi, I am having a problem with trees in an animation. During the first phase of the animation everything renders as normal. Then the camera turns away from the trees and later turns back to face them. When the camera turns back towards the trees they do not re-appear on screen or on the render.
The trees and surrounding landscape including some forest grass are x-ref'd into the scene. The grass and surroundings reapears only the trees are absent. Any ideas of a solution would be greatly appreciated.

It would be a problem with Xrefs and camera clipping. Please, try turning off Camera->Limit to Visibility to see if that solves it.
Also send us a test scene to support@itoosoft.com, so we can reproduce the problem here.

Thanks for you quick responce. Is Xrefs and camera clipping a common problem? It doesn't seem to affect the grass. Will turning off Camera clipping a have a negative effect on render time or ram usage?
Another issue i have noticed is that as the camera passsed some trees they disapear or are unloaded before the go out of view. Would this be another camera clipping issue?

just to update you this is not related to Xrefing. I imported the camera to the scene containing the trees and the same thing happens.

No, really at this moment there are not knows bugs with camera clipping and Xrefs, but this is the only Forest feature that hides the items dinamically. Also in the past we had other problems with Xrefs (already solved), because the way that Max handle them, so would be interesting to check it.

Probably you should adjust the clipping parameters, specially the "Back offset" value. If it is zero, try setting it to 10m. Since these values are dependent of the view, sometimes is neded to use higher values than default.

Ok, in this case, please send us a minimal scene to reproduce the problem here.

Thanks
I have sent you a drop box link to carlosqg@itoosoft.com as the file size still exceeds what outlook will let me throw at it.
