Surf.Mat.ID and Falloff - don't work together - Bug?
« on: July 07, 2017, 02:06:57 PM »
Hi,

I just discovered that you can restrict the area a forest pack to a specific material id using the "Surf.Mat.ID" setting, which is totally brilliant. Then 10 min later I discovered that you can't apply a Falloff in the scale to the areas, as they don't seem to be recognised as edges of the material id zone, which is a bit of a pain. Only way I could get around it was to create a spline from the material id edge and restrict the FP using a spline area instead.

Is this a know bug/feature?

Forest version 5.3.0

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,

To apply the Falloff feature also for all these edges, please use the Edit Geometry > Detach to Element having these surface polygons selected. That should do the trick. Hope that helps.

I didn't really want to break up the base geometry, but that does make a lot of sense... then it has edges. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to split it up a bit in sub objects.

Thanks for the tip... easy when you know how :-)
