Title: Updating cusotm objects in ForestPack Pro
Post by: archaeotect on October 29, 2013, 11:46:19 AM
Hi, I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation.

If I change one of the meshes that is used as a custom object in the geometry rollout of a Forest object, will the Forest object update automatically or do  I have to manually re-add the mesh?
What if I changed the material of a mesh used as a custom object, will the automated ForestPack Multi-/SubObject Material update accordingly? What if it has already been optimized (the diffuse maps replaced with ForestColor maps)?

Thanks, archaeotect

Yes, Forest updates automatically if the mesh of a Custom Object changes. If for some reason it doesn't (it would happen with some Max operations, as a mesh collapsing), just reassign the object again.

By default Forest uses the material defined at Geometry List->Material, and the multi-sub is also updated on-the-fly. If you want to use directly the material assigned to the object, just clear the Geometry->Material parameter.
