Title: using map as an area
Post by: mikegentile on May 16, 2014, 04:23:59 AM
how can i use a map as an area?
when i use the map , i don't get a distribution map choice.
The spline acts as a mask of the distribution map.
how can i have a map act as a an area....and still use the distribution map?

In this case it would be necessary two maps: one for mask and other for distribution.
Although Forest cannot use more than one map, it can be done combining mask and distribution with a "Composite" texture, using it as Distribution->Map. In case that you need a custom map by area, just assign it to Areas->Override Dist.Map.

I hope that helps.

yeah.... that works. it's just the controls for distribution size are then in the material instead of on the panel. :(

Well, not exactly. Even with procedural maps the parameters Density->Units and Density->Pixels are available to adjust the distribution size and density respectively.
