Very long time rendering with Max and Vray
« on: May 30, 2016, 02:08:13 PM »
Hi!

I am working with a interior scene with MAX 2016 , Vray 3.30.04 and Forest Pack 5.5.

Before applying the forest pack to the scene, the Light cache calculating time was about a minute, and after  create two simple sufaces with grass and trees (from the free library) the render time turns very long. Just the light cache turns to 10 minutes or more

I try to solve it with the material optimizer but nothing changes.

--edit: The render time increases not just in light cache pass, just the same for the irradiance map and render --

(Sorry for my english) ::)

Thanks!

Hi, it's normal that render times increase a bit with Forest. Usually an unique FP object may add many instances to the scene, sometimes using complex materials.
But if that extra time is normal or not, it's difficult to know: depends how long, materials, render settings and more.

Please, would you do a test converting your objects to instances using Forest Tools ?
If problems persists, i suggest you ask in the ChaosGroup forum. They have much more experience than us, regarding V-Ray settings and optimization.

Thanks,

I suggest you use one simple VrayMtl as override material in all the forest objects. Test render again to see if this is the problem in materials.
We are working hard in virtual effects in 3DSMAX. Welcome to our website in China.

Hello cc8boy,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I try it using a simple Mat in override and when the Forest object is not hidden the time of render turns insane

Thanks a lot anyway!!

Hello Carlos.

I have some experience working with forest in older versions with max and vray and this never happens to me before.

EDIT:  I HAVE EXPORTED THE SCENE TO MAX 2014 AND IT WORKS CORRECTLY. So there is an issue with MAX 2016

I guess can we talk in spanish??

Muchas gracias por tu atención

Well, that's not normal. Please, try to reproduce the problem in a simplificated scene and send to us.

And yes, we can taslk in spanish if you like. Since you must send us the scene, we can continue this case in spanish by our helpdesk system (helpdesk@itoosoft.com).

Hello again Carlos

I found the problem i guess.  It happens when you create any scene and you are working in METERS.
I sent you a simple scene and the explanation in spanish to helpdesk mail.
