Forest Pack & large grass areas
« on: July 28, 2020, 05:12:34 PM »
Hi.

I've tried following this video but I'm having a nightmare with it.  Does this still work in FP?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ldSIeMlg48

The FP clump I made gave random results or just wouldn't work - or would be offset in the scene.... or would be under the ground

If I need to I can make a basic version of the scene to send but just want to check if I'm not doing something that's changed in FP and isn't in the video

Thanks

Hi, thanks for contacting us about this.
That is a bug. It will be solved in next FP version.
For now there is a quick fix- set Your nested FP items Render mode as Meshes:

Hi

For some reason I still can't get it to work.  Really bugging me now  :'(

Can you please test this scene and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I've created the grass patch.  I don't know if it's my objects or surfaces or anything that's causing this

I currently have both FP's set to Automatic in Display.   Nothing seemed to work.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi iCreateLtd

This is unrelated issue.
Your Master FP is visible in the scene, just very far. Because of Your inner ForestPack Object has Pivot Point set to very far from actual object.

Set it to center and refresh Your master ForestPack surface.

Hmmmmmm

Right, another few issues maybe you can help me with.  I don't think there's a way around it.

I've got my grass objects material to tint based on the ground texture.

I also have it set to edge mode.

Using this other method tints each FP patch to 1 colour it picks from the ground below.  So I have loads of circles of different,1 colour grass

Also edge mode doesn't seem to be working.

Also.. Max seems to be freezing when trying to render.  I'm IR rendering and changed a rotation value and it's been stuck for 5 mins.

Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks
