Vray Distance Tex
« on: June 07, 2021, 10:00:06 AM »
Hi,

According to FP tutorial about scattering objects on displaced geometry I tried this approach, but wanted to use Vray Distance Texture as displacement map. However, it seems, that Forest Pack cannot use that kind of map. Is it me doing something wrong or Itoo software doesn't support Vray Distance Texture?

Hi. Surface has to have RWS mapping. Attached a demo scene.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rokas,
Many thanks for Your help. It works indeed. However, it is displaced properly only when base object is placed perfectly on the center of the grid. When I have object that is away from grid center, forest pack(or vray distance tex?) still treats grid center as a reference point. Check it out if it is working properly on Your workstation or is it something wrong with my max, vray or fp version or settings

Yes, that is how this combo works.
Just add UVW map modifier set it to Real-World Map Size and move it to 0.0.0 position.
