Vray Proxies in Forest Pro - Unhandled exception
« on: May 25, 2012, 03:54:04 PM »
Hi,

Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere. I can't find anything about it.

When I use any vray proxy in a forest object it creates an error message:
Unhandled exception: compiling geometry. With the last marker always on preparing lights.

However my proxies render fine outside of a forest object. And my forest object renders fine if I use the mesh instead of the proxy.
This happens everytime. So impossible for me to use proxies in forest pro.
I'm using Max2011 x64, forest pro 3.8.1 and Vray 2.10.01

Thanks for any help

This a typical error of incompatibility with the VRay version.

VRay 2.10.01 is a bit old, and probably ChaosGroup introduced some changes in their SDK on recent versions. If i remember well, Forest Pro 3.8.1 was compiled with VRay 2.20.

Please, upgrade to VRay 2.20 or 2.30, that should solve the problem. You can download the update freely from the ChaosGroup site.

I´m having the same problem with vrayproxies.
Here´s a link to a file showing this error.

If I import the proxy as mesh the error doesn´t appear.
I´´m using max 2013 and the latest version of vray. I tried with diferent kinds of proxies.
