Author Topic: Weird behaviour on a custom FP object, importing XREF geometry into the scene  (Read 332 times)

Greetings.
I have this issue with a FP preset that I made that I'm unable to solve. I'll try to explain it briefly:

The forest object is made of a combination of white and yellow flowers meant to simulate a spring flowery meadow, to be used on top of regular old grass.
All geometry and textures come from the 3d plants library of Quixel Megascans.
On the following screenshot, you can see the FP object and its source geometry. The two clusters of flowers are the White everlasting and the Daffodils. I've downloaded them from Quixel Bridge with exactly the same process.

I've saved it in the Forest library like many other files I had made previously, maps are saved properly and all.

Now, whenever I create a new FP object in a scene and load the patch from the library, the following happens:

While the white flowers are imported properly, all the Daffodils are imported into the scene as XREF objects. On top of that, as you can see in the Geometry panel, they are not associated with the FP object anymore. So the FP now distributes white flowers only.

I have no clue why this is happening. I've tried resetting the XForm of everything, renaming all assets and placing them in the same layer, recreating the Forest Object from scratch, checking for viruses and corruption.

The items are simple geometry and work correctly in all other cases. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but this has never happened to me before, and I'm quite confused. I'm going to keep trying redoing things until it works, but I figured I could try and ask the forums, in case somebody is already familiar with this issue. If needed I can post the 3dsMAX file.

Thank you and cheers!

Hi Javier,

Thanks for the detailed description of the issue, it's not something I've come across before so it might be best to send us the source files to see if I can spot anything obvious and dig deeper. Please feel free to package it up and send it to helpdesk@itoosoft.com if you'd prefer not to post them publicly on the forum.

Many thanks,

Paul

Thank you Paul for the quick reply. I am sending you the scene via e-mail. I'd post it here but I'm a little afraid of violating some TOS, since it contains commercial assets.
