Why am I seeing Alpha ?
« on: March 20, 2020, 02:13:09 PM »
I need to create small areas of neat grass,  and in the attached example, the one I'm testing is just 750x750mm square.

Why is some kind of weird alpha being seen outside the Edge boundary ?

Please can you tell me the cause of it and how to fix it ?

(I have two other pieces of grass to create, both are smaller than this, by 1/2, i.e. 750x375mm each just for info).

Also, please note that I need to animate these planes of grass - so please can you also suggest any issues I might meet if this alpha issue isn't to come back and haunt me!

For completeness, I'm on the very latest FPP 624 and on 3DS Max 2020.1 (and VRay Next 3.1).  Windows 10 (of course !).

Many thanks.

Hi, please try increasing Transparency Levels in V-Ray, as described here.

That usually fixes the transparency artifacts with Edge mode.

Thanks Rokas,

As per that link you sent me, it was just a case of reducing the density.

Many thanks.
