Why some of my small flowers disappear and appear suddenly ?
« on: December 02, 2014, 08:39:31 PM »
Hi developers of iToosoft,
Why some of my small flowers disappear and appear suddenly ? See my attachment.
1.   I made a large area of my small flowers with wind animation with Forest Pro. I made an area of shrubs with wind animation with Forest Pro too.
2.   I select the “shrub forest” as exclude object of the “flower forest” to keep the flowers away from the shrubs.
3.   Everything look fine in the viewports. But some of my small flowers disappear and appear suddenly when I see the final render.
Is the animated flowers flickering cause by the exclude object, the animated “shrub forest” ? What can I do now? Please help me.
(MAX2012 64bit Forest pro 4.2.4)

Hi,

Thanks for the video and providing us all details about the issue.

Possibly it can be caused by using as Exclude Area an animated Forest object with Shape detection in Mesh mode. In case of having animated objects will be safer to use the Shape - Sphere mode which shouldn't affect the final distribution in case of animated mesh.

Hope you'll find it useful, but if your issue persist, please let us know.

Kind regards,

I have an idea.  Are you sure all the animated forest objects won't be flickering again if I turn "Generate mode" to "Custom Edit mode" of all my forest objects before the final render? because I can't waste my render time anymore.
I want to be 100% sure that all the trees must be locked before final render.

I checked my scene file. I found I never change the Exclude objects detection mode before. All the Exclude forest objects were set to Shape - Sphere mode. See my attachment.
But I still get some flickering animated flowers in my final render.

The 1st picture is the setting of my flowers.
The 2nd picture is the setting of my shrubs.

Hi,

Thanks for all provided details and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Would you kindly send us your simplified scene (containing problematic Forest objects) through WeTransfer to support@itoosoft.com? We´ll analyse what's causing the issue. Also please, set up the camera and frame range where this issue appears. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

I'm afraid I can't send the scene file to you this time. The cache is almost 1GB. The upload speed of my network is only 15KB. And I can't reach the website https://www.wetransfer.com/ because of my government. Can you give me some suggestion ? And let me try later.

Hi,

Well, without having the scene is very hard to say what's causing the issue.

Anyway, from your Forest objects settings we can see, you have switched to Custom Edit mode just shrubs, but flowers are still in Generate mode. We suggest you to change the mode also for this object to Custom Edit.

I must choose the Custom Edit mode in “shrub forest” because I made this forest by clicking mouse.
My “flower forest” was generated randomly by forest pro. I wanted to keep the flowers look random.

Finally,I found the flickering of flowers gone in final render after I changed the flowers to Custom Edit mode. Maybe the Custom Edit mode is safest way to lock the forest. I hope there will be a "lock before render" button in the future.
