Title: wind grass sine wave
Post by: in3des on February 24, 2020, 09:21:38 AM
Hi,
I'm trying to get wind effect on the grass.
Getting some issues when following this topic https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-(*)/how-does-rotation-by-texture-really-works (https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-(*)/how-does-rotation-by-texture-really-works)

I can see results from RED color and GREEN.
But it looks like BLUE color has no effect. (((

I could get some result with green color - but need same with blue
my grass instance is already bent and I need to rotate it along Z axes only

ideally I need
Z - sine wave +-some variation
XY - some variation

Not sure if that possible - would be great to have direction control by spline/splines.
So you could just draw a spline and forest would arrange its objects along that spline.

Hi Rokas,
Thanks for reply!
I just found out - the issue was I didn't check the box to use "map" on Z axys )))
now everything looks fine! :)

Any advice how to add random variation on top of rotation set by map?
so it follows sine wave +-5 degrees on Z (kind of noise)

Under color, there is noise parameters, that can be used for that:

Or You can use additional effect (attached):
