Title: Xfrog 2d into library
Post by: GE3351 on June 30, 2014, 03:16:54 PM
Can you give me a step by step way of using the Xfrog 2d Plants library in Forest Pack, basically in the same fashion as the Forest Library 2d Shrubs and trees supplied inside Forest Pro would be ideal.
Thanks

Hi,

There are few steps that needs to be done for successful implementation of 2D XFrog Plants billboards (or any 2D billboards) into your Library Browser interface.

As first step you'll need to build the material library for all billboards you want to have in your library. Feel free to get inspired from materials in our Forest Library - 2D - Trees. We recommend to use Standard material as base for Forest Material, or VRayMtl if you use VRay. You can also find the suggested settings for billboard scenes here (http://forum.itoosoft.com/index.php?topic=448.0). Once all materials prepared please save all of them to one .mat material library file you'll be using for import.

The rest of the process can be done using Library Browser interface. Once Library Browser opened right click on User's Libraries folder in Library Browser and choose Create Library. Than right click on black area and select Create Item - Billboard. By right clicking on this newly created item you'll be able to run Import Billboards... wizard.

The Material Importer will open. Select a material library by clicking on the ... button under the Source section. Locate a material library and click open. Highlight the billboards you wish to import. Under the Catalog Location section tick the desired options:

Create Items in Forest Catalog adds the selected materials as billboards to the active library
Create Thumbnail Images automatically generates thumbnails from the diffuse maps of the selected materials
Create Material Library consolidates the selected materials into a single material library located in the library folder. There is also an option to automatically convert them to Forest Materials.

The default settings are generally OK. Click Import and the materials will be added to the library.

Hope this helps you, but in case of any troubles please let me know.

Kind regards,
