Insert HQ Plants, but scene trees disappear
« on: April 30, 2012, 11:58:57 PM »
I have a bit of a weird issue: I am creating forests with the HQPlant library trees. I add my trees to the geometry list and everything works fine (I can render and see the trees, and they appear in my viewport). However, when I close and reload the file, the trees disappear. In fact, all HQ Plant geometry does not appear in the viewport or in the rendered view.

I found the issue: each forest does not seem to remember that "Linden 1" points to the HQ Plant library. Instead, it defaults back to "custom object: none"

I tried reloading the library and changing locations (per this thread http://www.itoosoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=1057.0), but I am having the same issue

Unfortunately, the error seems specific to one file, as I've created a test file and could not duplicate.

Any help would be appreciated.

edit: I just tried deleting all forests in the scene and re-creating them, only to have the same thing happen.

The library trees are stored in the hidden layer "forest_templates", using a random name as "_forest_library_IGDHJA". They can be loaded as meshes or XRefs, depending of the library preferences. Once loaded, Forest makes a reference to them.

Can you see the HQ Plants objects in the layer ?  Are they meshes of XRefs ?
