Distribution by reference
« on: April 24, 2018, 08:25:01 PM »
Hi,

I'm populating some terraces from a project with furniture, which will be visible from a distance.
But using the reference mode with forest pack, this doesn't seem to work anymore as I was used to.

I've also tested with a simple box to check if the reference point isn't the issue.
Also the surfaces (reference) are generated by a RC object based on the splines used to generate the sliding windows

The directions seem to change constantly.
What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

Hi,

Do You instantiate RailClone elements with RailClone tools?
It works for me if You do:

If don`t, then it does not work. Will report that to development team for investigation.

How are You used to work? in which version? I tested with ForestPack 5.4.1 and it is not better.

ok, looks like I found the issue here...
I had entered the Z dimension for the surface in RC, so I could scale it if there were deeper terraces.
This doesn't seem to work well? can you find out why and if there is a workaround?

thanks

Great, thanks.
A comprehensive thread about this would be nice.
Mainly about grouped sets, and how to position them correctly using this procedure.

These two are already very interesting:

Hi Rokas,

Have you found a good solution for this issue yet?
I've been trying to get it fixed but untill now without success.
I've added some images to illustrate what I'm after.

As you can see the groups aren't centered on the mesh triangle.
I've centered all the pivots from the items in the group under the same (central) object.

Thanks

I have not ;(
Why don't You want to use RailClone for all of this? Why do You need ForestPack ?

Hi Rokas,

Unless railclone has a new feature where it can use multiple materials this is the only way possible.
I'd like to use this with quite some different group setups which I only see possible with forest.
