FP 7 Color Correction Rollout | Saturation
« on: December 31, 2020, 09:43:09 AM »
The possibility to correct colors for all objects within the FP panel is a great new feature!
However, I find it difficult to get pleasing results when changing the saturation in the FP Color Correction Rollout.

So I did a test sequence with a vegetation patch (see attachment):
on the left side the saturation value (in %) is changed directly in the Vray material via a color correct map.
The right patch shows the result using the saturation correction in the FP Rollout.

Using FP702b, the color doesn't only desaturate but also becomes lighter, which doesn't give very pleasing results, especially for vegetation.

Hi

thanks for You interest in FP7 Beta.

One aspect to note- we are using autodesk OSL color model for modifications.

I did a small test too:

So ForestPack is behaving as expected in this case.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! Great feedback!

Well, this seems to be a bit more complex. But I'd say the OSL model is way off and confirms the "too bright issue"... ;)

I'll post a "realworld" example illustrating the issue in a 3d context soon, as that's what it is finally all about.

i would also vote for the way photoshop handles desaturation

OSL looks more like a gamma correction to me ... strange results
