FP7 alpha issues
« on: January 11, 2021, 11:09:54 AM »
I am unable to render Forest objects as Matte Render Elements in Vray and RenderMask using FP7. Works fine with latest FP6 build.

Also when reinstalling latest FP6 build due to above problems, all Custom Edit Forest objects made with FP7 don't work in FP6.

That is expected. We can only maintain backward compatibility, not forward. This is true for most software.

Now You can get individual elements matte elements. Please assign IDs on objects themselves, not FP object:

Thanks for your quick reply  :) Completely fair with back/forward compatibility. I'll have a Go at object level rather than FP level. I use the old feature a lot. Will there be an option to choose between object and FP level or will they both just work in a release?

They are planned to work as they do work in current beta.

This really doesn't make any sense. I have 30-70 FP objects in a scene with hundreds of objects inside. Most are hidden due to render constraints. So what you are saying is that I have to assign object ID's to every single object to be able to make a matte element for a FP object?

Also I just realized that FP objects are not visible in the Alpha channel either. They simply do not render. So with FP7, FP objects are not considered "objects" anymore? You really need to have a look at this. Attached is a render with the alpha problem. How do I get the trees to be part of the Alpha channel?

Thanks for Your expressed concerns. We will take a look what can be done.
Regarding alpha- it should work. Would You please send us Your simplified scene to check ?
