FP7 Crashes and License Errors
« on: November 06, 2020, 08:17:29 PM »
I was testing FP7 beta. After adding a forest object into scene, Max hung and Forest failed to find a license (I had incorrectly installed latest license server on the license machine). After the timeout, I canceled the creation. When I fixed my license server, I tried to create a new forest object and Max crashed to CER.

When I restarted Max and tried to create a Forest object, Max again crashed to CER.

Note that my licenses are on a separate machine. I installed the latest License Manager on it (1.5.0). Here is my license server log for today after starting the LS:

06/11/2020 14:06:38 I Itoo Software License Server started
06/11/2020 14:06:38 I License Server v1.5.0

06/11/2020 14:06:38 I Locator service running on UDP port 16720
06/11/2020 14:07:11 W No licenses found for product 9 with support date 20201103 (192.168.1.107)
06/11/2020 14:07:20 W Client Thread Exception, Winsocks Error 10054
06/11/2020 14:10:12 W No licenses found for product 9 with support date 20201103 (192.168.1.107)
06/11/2020 14:10:37 W No licenses found for product 9 with support date 20201103 (192.168.1.107)
06/11/2020 14:10:41 W Client Thread Exception, Winsocks Error 10054

My guess is that the crash is related to the license error. My account shows the same license ID for FP7 as 6 and the expiration is far into the future.

Ideas?

Hi Shawn. Please do this, from the computer which is running the License Server:

- Open the folder where licenses are stored: C:\ProgramData\Itoo Software\Licenses
- Copy all .sls files in a zip, and send it to our support team.
- Delete all your licenses, using the "Delete" button or clicking Shift+Del.
- Add the licenses and activate them again, using the license codes you received with the purchase.

We have introduced changes in the licensing system for FP7, which requires a reactivation.
Usually the License Manager should update the licenses automatically, but perhaps there is something wrong in the process, so we'll test your licenses here.

Thanks for your collaboration.

I got the emails with updated licenses, but no notice of email here, so I didn't follow steps you posted. I did, however, simply use the LS Add function to add the updated licenses. This seemed to work as now the client machines can run FP 7.

Thanks!
