FP 9.0.5 IVY suggestions
« on: July 08, 2024, 02:22:52 pm »
FP IVY looks very promising. Thank you for this awsome new feature.

Someone in the forum already pointed out the implemetation in the forest lister is a must have.

Other impovments we would like to suggest:

- Surface List
A List of the surfaces that are used for distribution.

- Layers enable/disable
The layers feature looks very promising. To enable and disabe them would be great.

- global scale parameter

- LOD? something like: near = normal geo / far is less but bigger leaves

Thank you in advance.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. We're glad you enjoy ForestIvy !

- Surface List
A List of the surfaces that are used for distribution.

You can see the surface list and assign them with 'Select object by name' (right next to the add button).

- Layers enable/disable
The layers feature looks very promising. To enable and disabe them would be great.

Just set 'Density' parameter to zero, to disable a layer.
Initially, we though to add a checkbox for this, but it's redundant and we try to keep the interface as simple as possible.

- global scale parameter

We'll evaluate it. But may be a bit confuse, because many Ivy parameters are expressed in scene units.

- LOD? something like: near = normal geo / far is less but bigger leaves

That would create a lot of flickering in animations, specially if number of leaves changes with distance.
And for static images, ForestIvy already uses instances for rendering. That is very efficient even using detailed leaves.
