Slow Custom edit mode on non frame 0
« on: June 20, 2024, 01:10:07 PM »
Hello,
I have found a bug where FP9 is noticeably slower in CustomEdit mod, e.g. when changing model (rollout menu) Properties (selection). However, all this only happens if you are on a frame other than frame 0 i.e. e.g. 1.

I'm trying it on a simple scene and so far it's not replicating. I'll find out what's causing it.
Edit: This is only the case with complex gemoetry like trees etc. Ordinary Box/Sphere doesn't cause this or is not noticeable.

The problem is probably bigger. Overall, FP9 behaves very slowly on frames other than frame 0. E.g. also update surface etc.

Ok. We use same V-Ray version here.

Are you using samplesCacheLimit=0 in forestpack.ini yet ?

Problem seems related with the new samples cache cleaning process, but for some reason we cannot reproduce these issues.
We'll continue making more tests...

I confirm that setting sampleCacheLimit=0 solves the problem.
For some reason I returned the value to the original when I tried the previous rendering issue https://forum.itoosoft.com/forest-pro-beta/slow-rendering-multiple-frames/

Problem identified and fixed for next update.
Until then please use sampleCacheLimit=0 as workaround.
