Spacewarps on top of FPro.

Hi,

I just noticed that you could add spacewarps on top of a Forest Pro object (which is unexpected but great) in VRay, but it doesn't work in Redshift.

Is this something for the RS Devs to support?

Thanks,

Steve

Hmm. Weird - now I can't get it to work in VRay - binding to a noise spacewarp just makes the FP object vanish.

It's the sort of thing that would be useful to give a bit of life to animation overall rather than individual objects - I've done work for a medical animation company and they like to add a global spacewarp to give that underwater ebb and glow look to their animations, but they just use scatter objects.

Hi Steve,

Using Space Warps isn’t directly supported, but you might export distributed items by the Forest Tools utility and Bind created instances to a Space Warp.

In FP6, the Forest object can use a particle system, which might be an interesting option for this kind of scenarios.

Let me add, that generally we don't recommend to apply any modifier as it disables instancing. In some situations it wouldn't lead to big performance hit,  but please be aware of using heavy geometry as whole FP object will be treated as a single mesh.

Best regards,
