issue with forest ivy
« on: October 10, 2024, 12:26:45 AM »
Hi team

I have this issue where the viewport shows it one way but it renders it with less?  see attached.

Hi,

It's hard to pinpoint the issue based solely on the provided images. If possible, please send us your scene (ideally simplified, just with the problematic object(s)) so we can take a closer look. Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

I experience the same issue.
Converting the ForestIvy object to mesh worked and allowed me to render it properly but it's just a workaround I'd rather never do.
I suspect it has something to do with V-Ray.
Is there a specific version or build you recommend?

As mentioned above, please send us any problematic scene (a simplified version would be ideal) so we can take a look here. Thanks in advance! We appreciate any additional details you can share with us or the user community regarding this issue, especially in case others encounter similar problems.

Best regards,

I think I found the reason to this behavior and it's super easy to recreate.
Seems Ivy can't build during render-time if the baselines are drawn over Railclone objects.
It could be great if we were able to intertwine Ivy with fences and such.  :(

One workaround you can do is to display the Railclone object as mesh and then stack an edit poly/mesh modifier over it, however it's a little heavy on the viewport.

-edit-

Uncheck "Use Instancing Engine" in the "Display / Build" section and it works again.

Alternatively, the Instancing Engine can be disabled in RC. Which is logical, because RC simply renders instanced objects instead of itself, which are not given as Surface in FIvy.
