Forest Pack changed my lightning settings
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:14:54 PM »
Dear reader,

when I pressed reder in 3ds Max, I got a pop-up saying it is recommended to make some setting changes. Unfortunately I said "yes", and now my scene is over-lighted and it looks all crap. I tried everything to get it back to normal, but without any success.

Can anyone tell me how to get my old settings back or at least undo everything Forest Pack Pro did to my config? It is a very heavy scene on which I worked for a week. I dont want to lose it :)

These are the settings used for Mental Ray:

Processing -> Use Placeholder Objects
Renderer -> Scanline disabled
Renderer -> Raytrace acceleration BSP2

And this in the Forest Display rollout:

Display->Hide Custom objects

Although theorically none of them should affect the scene's lighting.

Hi iToo,

thanks for your reply.

Yeah, I figured out those are the things, and I tought that those shouldnt affect my lightning or contrast or anything, but the second after I pressed the "OK" button and started
rendering my scene was 5 times brighter then normal and since then I havent been able to get it back to the original state :)

Guess it was just a bug / flaw somewhere, happens lol :)

Anyways thanks for your reply, I'll try to get it all back and if succeeded I will post the solution in here :)
