does HQ Catalog work with HQ Grass 1?

I was just wondering if the HQ Catalog works with HQ Grass? The docs only mentions HQ Plants..

Also does the Grass come with the forest material applied or do I need to do that myself?

Yes, HQ Catalog includes the HQ Grass libraries. However in the current verion only imports the materials as is on the library.

We are working to improve this aspect to the Forest Material automatically in the following update.
